Zoological Museum

With over 23,000 specimens, the University of Montana Philip L. Wright Zoological Museum is the largest research collection of its kind in the state and one of the primary sources of vertebrate biodiversity information in the northern Rocky Mountains. The museum was founded in 1897 by UM s first biology professor, Dr. Morton Elrod, and was named 100 years later to honor the decades of foundational work by UM professor Dr. Phil Wright. The museum continues today as a critical resource for research, education, and outreach, in Montana and beyond.
