Sources & freshness
Every listing links back to the public page that backs it, and shows when we last checked that page.
Where listings come from
- Provider source
- The provider’s own site, calendar, or registration page. This is the most direct source.
- Calendar source
- A shared community calendar or directory. The provider’s source wins when they disagree.
- Curated source
- Public information selected and assembled by Missoula Parents, with the supporting page linked on the listing.
- Public social post
- A publicly visible post from a provider or organizer.
Listings publish automatically. Before publication, software applies three checks: a family-event screen, a covered-town check, and a duplicate check. A person does not approve each listing.
Photos come from the same provider pages. If a photo should not appear here, send a correction.
What the checked date means
A checked date is the last time we looked at the source. It is not a promise that nothing changed since. If a listing looks old, check the provider’s page before you go.
How current is the directory?
Each listing keeps the date of its most recent successful source check. For each type, the range goes from the oldest of those dates to the newest. Counts include listings that have a public source, some of which are not browsable yet, and do not measure coverage.
| Type | Listings with a source | Oldest source check | Newest source check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Events | 2,041 | Jul 28, 2026 | Sep 11, 2026 |
| Programs & services | 623 | Jul 11, 2026 | Sep 11, 2026 |
| Providers | 475 | Jul 11, 2026 | Sep 11, 2026 |
| Outdoor places | 21 | Jul 21, 2026 | Jul 21, 2026 |
How to check a provider yourself
- Open the source link and confirm the current name, dates, cost, and sign-up path.
- For child care or schools, use the linked licensing and inspection pages. Those agencies keep those records, not us.
- Ask the provider about openings, staff, policies, and anything else that matters to your family.
